ENCODERS - ROTARY
A rotary encoder, also known as shaft encoder, is an electro- mechanical device used to convert the angular position of a shaft or axle to an analog or digital code, making it a sort of transducer. There are two main types of rotary encoders: they are: absolute rotary encoder and incremental rotary encoder.
