The E52Q Pancake style has an extended sensing range to 100 mm, and the E56 Cube style has an extended sensing range to 40 mm. Both inductive sensors use “auto-configure” output technology, which auto-detects if the sensor has been wired for NPN (sinking) or PNP (sourcing), and switches the sensor to the appropriate mode without user intervention.
