Check out this video on how Airbus uses Concept Laser additive manufacturing machines to design, prototype and build final parts for its planes.
3D plastic parts are flying on commercial A310 and A350 XWB test aircraft. Metal parts for wing slats and a section of the tail wing and door hinges have also been made with additive manufacturing machines. Airbus has realized a 70% time reduction in making many of these parts and an 80% drop in manufacturing costs.
