Composite Hoses offer Chemical Compatibility

by Design World Staff
Thursday, July 24, 2008

Chemical compatibility offered by contemporary materials make new composite hoses ideal for transfer of a wide range of chemical and petroleum products. For example, non-polar polypropylene resists polar fluids such as methanol and sulfuric acid, and polar polyester resists non-polar fluids such as gasoline or aromatic fluids. Composite hoses, consisting of multiple layers of thermoplastic fabrics and films held in place by internal and external wire helices, are manufactured under tension to make them self-sealing.
