Applied materials acquires fab software

Brooks Automation, Inc. is selling its software division, Brooks Software, to Applied Materials, Inc. Brooks software provided factory management and control software to the semiconductor and flat panel display industries. Its products are expected to enable Applied to offer customers a comprehensive computer integrated manufacturing (CIM) solution for fab operations.
