ATLANTA, GA — WEG Electric Corp. announces the release of the 8000 HP MVW-01 medium voltage variable frequency drive.
With the first unit shipping in April, the 8,000 horsepower VFD is the largest ever manufactured by WEG Electric. This expansion in capability doubles the HP available from the MVW01 drive. The MVW-01 features 99% efficiency and a 22-year mean time between failure (MTBF).
“It is important to note that the 99% efficiency is an average of 1% more than other medium voltage VFDs on the market, which can mean a savings of up to 50 thousand dollars per year, depending on the application,” says Charles Schuh, product manager, WEG Electric.
The MVW-01 is ideal for high-demand applications, such as mining, cement, shipping, iron metallurgy, and petro-chemical. Technologically advanced components, such as HV-IGBTs, are incorporated into the product to offer maximum reliability.
