12 V, Hot-Swap, Front-End Power Supplies

The FPS1000 12 V output front-end power supplies are for driving non-isolated, point-of-load, dc-dc converters in distributed power systems. They eliminate intermediate bus converters. Output is adjustable from 10.5 to 13.2 V. The new 864-watt model FPS1000-12 complements Lambda's existing line of 24, 32, and 48 V output models.

The supplies each measure 1.61 x 5 x 11.4 in. Use them individually, or mount up to three in an optional 1U-high 19 in. rack-mount enclosure to form an N+1 redundant and hot-swap power system. The units have integrated OR-ing MOSFET switches that automatically disconnect faulty supplies from the load should a failure occur.

Different output voltages are available for rack-mounted supplies (e. g., 12, 24, 32, or 48 V). Up to eight supplies can be combined in a current-sharing arrangement between these racks. Racks can be zero stacked flat because cooling airflow is integrated into each supply from front to rear. Operating temperatures are from 0 degrees C to 70 degrees C, with some derating starting at 50 degrees C. Applications include communications, factory automation, and RF power amplifiers.
