CLEVELAND, OH – Estane® Engineered Polymers, a business group within The Lubrizol Corporation (NYSE: LZ) has developed Estane® X-1311 thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), a technology that delivers a Limited Oxygen Index (LOI) of 40, developed for cable jacketing and molding.

Estane X-1311 thermoplastic polyurethane

The industry is placing greater emphasis on the development of new compounds that have higher LOI to reduce flame spread while maintaining good flexibility and abrasion resistance. Estane X-1311 TPU meets this industry demand for wire and cable jacketing used in applications such as robotics, industrial equipment and mass transit systems where high LOI and long term, flexible materials are necessary.

Estane TPUs are known for their superior abrasion, wear, tear and puncture resistance compared with conventional materials such as rubber or PVC.
