This hybrid drive suits agricultural sprayers—crop irrigation and treatment machines. It has been co-engineered with the Powertrain division of Magneti Marelli. The drive’s electric motor is integrated in a gear unit designed for this type of agricultural application. One of the benefits of this integration is a compact size, which suits sprayers whose drive systems must not damage crops during operation in the field. This electric drive system enhances flexibility and allows all four wheels to be driven independently. It also permits use of a kinetic energy recovery system to generate energy when the machine is travelling downhill, for example, reducing impact on the environment in terms of pollution and emissions.
