Just finished playing with the newest fluid power iPhone app, a nicely done program from Bosch Rexroth that allows customers to cross reference and replace their existing hydraulic filter elements with a corresponding Rexroth filter. Called Fit4Filter, the app worked flawlessly on my iPhone 4, and is also offered for Android devices.
Rexroth notes that the app is great for those engineers working with hydraulic power units in virtually any application—plastic injection molding machines, offshore drilling equipment, machine tools, metal stamping machines, even steel making equipment.
I found Fit4Filter easy to use (although if you only have a partial part number, the list of returned items can be crazy long—there are a LOT of filters out there!), and liked the background information on hydraulic fluid cleanliness. The settings let you choose English or German as well as Imperial or Metric units. You can also call or email Rexroth with one touch from various parts of the app, in case you need more help or have a question. Depending on what country you set it to, the app will figure out which of 20 centers to send your inquiry or call to.
The company says that the app also indicates whether the selected Rexroth filter is part of the company’s GoTo Focused Delivery Program (in the U.S.), as well as a link to specific Rexroth filter elements available on Amazon.com. Now that’s cool.
The app is free to download. Click to download the Android version of Rexroth’s Fit4Filter or to download the iOS version of Fit4Filter.
