Applications such as weather forecasting, altitude measurement, indoor navigation with floor level tracking, require accurate barometric pressure measurements. To address these applications within the increasing constraints of less space and lower power consumption, Bosch Sensortec has developed the BMP280 digital barometric pressure sensor. The company has already has shipped over 400 million barometric pressure sensors of previously released pressure sensors for these applications.
The new sensor delivers a relative accuracy within ±0.12 hPa which is equivalent to ±1m, a current consumption of just 2.7 µA and is offered in the industry’s smallest footprint (an 8-Pin LGA with metal 2.0 x 2.5 x 0.95 mm³) for pressure and temperature measurements.
