Having successfully completed its first 50
years as a designer and manufacturer of fractional horsepower
gearmotors, electric motors and gear reducers for demanding OEM
applications worldwide, Bison Gear & Engineering Corp. enters its
next half century with a clear strategic vision. The three legs that
provide a firm foundation for Bison’s strategy for the future are:
Protect and Expand the Core
Bison has always been dedicated to working
closely with its distribution partners to help them grow their OEM
gearmotor business and enters 2011 with Bison Gear products being
distributed throughout North America by the finest names in power
transmission and motion control distribution. Bison’s In-Stock,
Instant-Ship (ISIS) program was developed specifically to support those
distribution partners. To serve the important Canadian market, Bison has
established a new order fulfillment center in Ontario to provide ready
availability of Bison products for Canadian distributors.
Innovative Solutions to Grow More
Three of Bison’s new product introductions
represent truly innovative solutions for OEMs and specialty machine
builders. The AUTONOmotor™ line of sensorless, brushless DC gearmotors
was developed for applications requiring high torque in a compact
package, with simple wiring, no maintenance and increased energy
efficiency. Bison’s integrated intelligence ServoNOW™ servo motors are
truly plug and play automation solutions that are out of the box and
running within 5 minutes. With today’s increased requirements in the
food, pharmaceutical and process industries for gearmotors that can
withstand regular, high-pressure washdown Bison’s solution is its
innovative line of stainless steel SANIMotor™ gearmotors that are IP69K
rated. All of these innovative Bison solutions are available from
Bison’s distribution partners.

In 2010, Bison Gear’s quality management
system received ISO 9001:2008 certification and over 40% of Bison’s
salaried employees received Six Sigma training and certification. The
