The VersaDriveTM is a unique linear stepper design which combines a motor, a versatile drive nut system, and an adjustable centering bushing in a compact package. Engineers are assured versatility due to the ability for any component to mount on either end of the motor. A variety of options can be configured to create an optimized solution and components are field replaceable.
The VersaDrive is available in both NEMA 17 and NEMA 23 sizes with a selection of standard windings and leadscrew leads. Nut choices include a robust anti-backlash nut and a standard nut. The centering bushing option is an adjustable feature mounted opposite the drive nut that completely removes radial play to assure the fastest and quietest operation possible. Two drive mechanisms are available. The thru-screw version has a nut integral to the motor such that the screw moves axially as the motor is rotated. The fixed screw version has the screw integral to the motor causing the nut to move axially as the motor is rotated.
The USV17 VersaDrive can achieve up to 70 lbs. of dynamic force while the USV23 can achieve 150 lbs. When driven by a microstep drive, positioning resolutions for both sizes can be as fine as .0038 µM (.050” lead and 51,200 steps per revolution). Standard positioning accuracy is .0004”/in. A wide variety of modifications and options are available for the VersaDrive including custom windings, cabling and connectors, encoder feedback, Teflon coating on the screw, and custom nut materials.
The VersaDrive solves linear positioning challenges. Engineers can count on this unique, versatile product line to simplify designs, create more compact assemblies, and lower costs. Sample units are available from stock for qualified OEM’s. Those with questions about the VersaDrive, or other USAutomation products can call (949) 588-0513 or go to www.usautomation.com.
