Pfannenberg delivers a full range of
thermal management products at the cutting edge of design and
innovation, designed to keep electronics at optimum temperatures and
operations running smoothly. Pfannenberg was the first to create
Filterfans® in 1958, and since then, four generations of Filterfans®
have been developed. Today’s Filterfans® offer ease of use and
maintenance by providing a tool-free patented mounting design compatible
with older Filterfan® generations, easy hinge-system filter mat
replacement, and variable air flow direction with high air flow in a IP
55, NEMA Type 12 fan.
Other pre-engineered thermal management
solutions include the PWS-Series Air/Water Heat Exchangers which use
available cooling water to efficiently maintain electrical enclosures at
design temperatures regardless of ambient. Water cooling provides
distinct advantages for applications such as machining or grinding,
where ambient conditions with high temperatures or with oil and
dust-laden atmospheres can reduce the capacity and efficiency of
air-cooled solutions, or in food processing applications where wash-down
chemicals can corrode condenser coils and fans. Also, the compact size
of a PWS Series Heat Exchanger allows greater placement flexibility for
cooling smaller enclosures when space for a packaged air conditioner is
not available. A full line of PWS Series UL-Listed models is available
with capacities to 10,000 W and optional Type ratings of 12, 3R, 4/4X
wash-down/stainless steel. Thermostatic control is a standard feature to
save water and prevent over-cooling.
If cooling water is not available,
Pfannenberg engineers will design a complete cooling system that
includes an EB-Series Packaged Water Chiller with the capacity and
features required to match the heat exchanger(s) duty. Standard EB
Chillers are available with capacities to 25 Tons. The programmable
control module, rugged construction and wide list of available options
makes the EB-Series Chiller a good choice for applications like machine
and/or process cooling.
Also new to the Pfannenberg Cooling Unit
line-up are the SlimLine (SL) Series side-mount units. At only 12” wide
and with capacities from 3000 – 5000 Btu/hr, they are perfect for use on
narrow enclosures. Engineered to meet the demands of the North American
NEMA market, these models are available with indoor Type 12, outdoor
Type 3R/4 or stainless steel /wash-down Type 4/4X ratings - all in a
variety of voltages. These air conditioners feature a long internal air
path that works with natural convection to capture heat above cabinet
components while providing cool air from below, thereby eliminating hot
spots and providing effective and efficient cooling, while a generous
separation between the air supply and return openings prevents short
cycling of the air stream. Wide condenser fin spacing provides clog-free
operation with high air flow, while the specially-designed
single-bearing, backward-curved impeller fan insures high performance
and extends service life.
