The original Pancake® Air Cylinder
54 years ago Fabco-Air began its business by making a tiny air cylinder to fit and work in cramped spaces where no other cylinder could. We named it the Pancake®. It worked so well that people began asking for it with bigger bores, longer strokes, more options. Today, it has evolved into a major air cylinder line with eight bore sizes 1/2" to 4" and strokes to 4".
But the Pancake® is only one of countless stories. Early pneumatic history it filled with Fabco-Air innovations like our Multi-Power® cylinders described below.
Multi-Power® Air Cylinders are available in four series with bore sizes from 1/2" through 12" and strokes from 1/8" through 12". They can deliver hydraulic type forces using shop air pressure. As eye-opening examples: 1/2 bore models can deliver thrust forces up to 35 pounds on 60 psi supply pressure; 12" bore models can reach 26,562 pounds on the same 60 psi!
How they work- Fabco-Air attaches multiple pistons to a common shaft and provides internal air passages through the shaft to all pistons. Thus, when supply air pressure is applied to the extend port, all pistons are pressurized simultaneously enabling tremendous thrust forces to be obtained.
