Boston Gear Knows Speed Reducers
Long recognized as a pioneer among OEM and MRO manufacturers, Boston Gear© has been producing dependable power transmission products since 1877. The company is well known for its enclosed speed reducers, gear drives, open gearing, bearings, variable speed drives, AC motors, couplings and universal joints, precision gearheads, overload clutches and fluid power products.
700 Series Speed Reducer
The shining star in the Boston Gear universe is the 700 Series Worm Gear Speed Reducer, known throughout industry for its durable, efficient, and trouble-free performance.
The industry standard in food processing, packaging machinery and material handling, the 700 series are manufactured to the strictest quality standards in Boston Gear’s ISO-9002 certified, state-of-the-art facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.
A huge selection of modified products enhances the flexibility of the 700 Series. Single and double reduction models provide a wide array of ratios. Hollow and projecting output shafts afford multiple mounting configurations. And washd own-duty models withstand rigorous environments. In fact, there are over 15 million combinations of models and features available to fit any application.
A recent key innovation is the awardwinning PosiVent© internal pressure equalization system available as an option on 700 Series reducers. PosiVent is lubed for life and designed to operate in wet and dusty environments without the use of conventional pressure vents.
QC700 Series models feature a clean motor flange design which dramatically improves performance in washdown environments. Its self-aligning coupling also allows for blind assembly of a NEMA motor, reducing assembly times and maintenance costs.
New Stainless Steel 700 Series
Although Boston Gear’s 700 Series Worm Gear Speed Reducer has been a foundation in food and beverage applications for decades, the company recently developed a new innovation for washdown environments to meet even more stringent demands.
In 2008, Boston Gear introduced its new 100% Stainless Steel 700 Series Worm Gear Speed Reducer for food and beverage processing and packaging applications that require equipment able to withstand the rigors of frequent caustic washdowns. The new units are ideally suited to meet the washdown requirements of meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetable, and dairy operations.
The Stainless Steel 700 Series Speed Reducer offers the industry-best corrosion resistance in challenging, caustic washdown environments. Utilizing the trusted 700 Series worm gearing, combined with an innovative exterior design, the new stainless steel model offers several key features and advantages.
The housings, motor flange, and carrier are crafted from 316 stainless steel to endure tough, caustic washdowns. The rounded housing design, plastic hardware covers, and two-piece mounting base prevent particle accumulation or fluid pooling on or under the unit. And the two-piece mounting base has the same footprint of the standard 700 Series.
The large internal oil reservoir is filled with H1 food-grade lubricant and sealed for life, providing a wide range of operating temperatures and extended wear life.
