TB Wood’s – A Proud Member of the Altra Family
With a century and a half of innovation and exceptional quality, the TB Wood’s name has become virtually synonymous with power transmission products, which are sold throughout the world. With production and sales facilities in the United States, Canada and Mexico, the company joined Altra Industrial Motion in 2007 with its complementary products including a long line of industrial couplings.
A Coupling for Every Application
TB Wood’s offers a solution for any coupling application, with several lines of high-performance couplings including grid, disk, jaw and gear couplings, as well as elastomeric coupling products that all have a solid reputation for reliability and flexibility.
Whether your application is best suited to TB Wood’s Sure-Flex®, Dura-Flex®, Form-Flex®, HD Elastomeric, or one of the firm’s jaw, gear or grid couplings, you can be certain of superior performance and quality.
* Built for durability, designed for extreme conditions
* Ideal for use with variable-speed and variable-torque applications
* No lubrication
* No maintenance
* Four-way flexing action absorbs all types of shock, vibration, misalignment and end float
In 2008, TB Wood’s introduced the G-Flex Grid Coupling based on a state-ofthe- art design from Bibby Transmissions, a sister company within Altra Industrial Motion. High-strength, long-life G-Flex couplings offer excellent protection against shaft misalignment and vibration, and are available in two models for limited space applications or higher running speeds.
Technology- Leading Synchronous Belt Drives
TB Wood’s has been building synchronous belt drives for over half a century, and is recognized globally for its continuous improvements of the technology. These units combine the best of both chain and belt drives, providing positive power transmission and accurate speeds while requiring little maintenance, often at lower overall cost.
Synchronous drives need no lubrication and are ideal in applications where maintenance is difficult or where downtime could prove extremely expensive. Load capacities scale up to 1200 HP at 1750 RPM, and torque loads range from thousands of foot-pounds to inch-ounces.
With unusually high mechanical efficiency that remains high throughout a wide speed range, synchronous drives also offer precision unmatched by other drive systems. This is especially important in printing, packaging and material handling where synchronization is a necessity.
The unique synchronous tooth configuration engages and clears each sprocket grove in a continuous flow of quiet, smoothly transmitted power, thus providing constant angular velocity of the driven sprocket. This constant driven speed, with no loss due to belt creep or slippage, is ideal for precision applications such as highspeed printing and for machine tools such as indexers, drill presses and boring mills.
