APM HEXSEAL was founded in l947 with the mission of developing and manufacturing environmental sealing solutions to protect and prolong the life of electromechanical switches, potentiometers, encoders and circuit breakers in all kinds of hostile conditions. Initially for the military and subsequently for the broad industrial and commercial marketplaces, this highly focused effort resulted in the development of an extensive line of patented silicone sealing boots that mate with the vast majority of controls found today throughout the world. Most are manufactured to meet MIL-B-5423 Specifications, are UL Recognized and have a rating of IP66/68 (NEMA 4X/6P).

Other complimentary panel sealing products were also developed and patented including a complete line of high-pressure, reusable, self-sealing fasteners and washers. UL Recognized SEELCREWS®,SEELBOLTS®, SEELNUTS®, SEELRIVETS®, and SEELOC® washers are offered in a broad line of sizes — including metric. Most will seal, as well as fasten up to 20,000psig (internal/ external). A variety of self-locking technique options are also offered for those applications that operate where extreme vibration is also present. APM also offers a line of silicone colorizing incandescent lamp filters that transmit colors for instruments, lighted pushbutton switches and commercial illumination products. These lamp filters meet stringent MIL Specs, too.

APM also has a Custom Molding Department that specializes in designing and manufacturing dynamic sealing solutions using a wide range of elastomeric materials — some of which use proprietary metal-torubber bonding techniques. APM specializes in FASTTRACK prototyping to production. EMI/RFI suppression materials are offered in APM’s standard switch and circuit breaker and custom products.

Penetration by contaminants such as water, salt air, acids, UV, dust, dirt, ice lubricants and cleaning solvents is effectively prevented, increasing reliability and prolonging component life. HEXSEALS will climate protect from -94°F to +400°F with operational life of 50,000 actuations minimum. Additional circuit protection benefit is also achieved by the switch boot’s perimeter sealing rib which creates a vacuum seal of the mounting hole thus preventing any contaminant seepage and leaking onto delicate circuitry/boards. This unique secondary level of protection also make HEXSEALS an ideal sealing solution for hermetically sealed switches too.

Consistent with the goal of producing environmental sealing products for electrical panels and enclosures, APM designed a complete line of self-sealing and self-locking fasteners that are also UL Recognized. Millions are in use throughout the world in a myriad of applications on instrumentation, marine, military hardware and communications equipment, construction, off-road vehicles, computers, medical equipment — wherever, there’s a need for more than just fastening and when gasses and fluids must be contained internally/externally.
