Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: MXIM) announced that the company is the lead supplier for Xilinx UltraScale FPGAs. Maxim supplies the power management for three Xilinx FPGA reference designs. The first of these, the Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA KCU105 Evaluation Kit, will allow system designers to evaluate the Maxim solution at X-Fest 2014 starting today.
The collaboration leverages Maxim’s ultra-flexible InTune™ digital power products, and for the first time lets Maxim leverage its high-density, high-efficiency Volterra technology for FPGA development boards. This flexibility and density of Maxim’s power products, coupled with the inherent flexibility and logic density of Xilinx’s 20nm UltraScale FPGAs, give system designers an unprecedented advantage in performance, energy efficiency, and time to market. As a result, Maxim’s products are up to 30% smaller compared to previous generations on the market.
Complex communications systems can have dozens of power rails, many with stringent requirements for a reliable supply of high-current with limited space and heat dissipation. Power system designers benefit from the InTune built-in automatic compensation that minimizes design-in time by enabling a single design and layout for multiple power rails.
