When it comes to keeping your cables safe and secure in a system, there are numerous choices, all of which are fairly simple. In our latest Design World Product Spotlight video, senior editor Lisa Eitel and I checked out cable and pipe seals from Roxtec and assembled our own makeshift system.
Called the EzEntry cable pass-through, this mechanical component lets installers secure cables for power and control to machine housings, helping to ensure safety and reliability for systems and those around them. It also serves to seal out water and debris, so the inside of the machine or control cabinet stays protected, even under washdown.
The kit includes everything one needs to set up the cable pass-through, including the rubber modules that simply peel away to allow the installer to customize the size to the cable, a frame to attach to the system, lubricant to help ease the modules into the frame, screws and bolts, a compression unit to help ensure its IP rating, and even tools to complete the set-up.
The compact frames are available for four to 32 cables. They help simplify design by eliminating the need to remove connectors if a machine needs servicing and cables must be removed because pre-terminated cables can pass through the frame opening. And, because of the peel-away system on the modules, varying cable sizes can be used in the same frame.
