Vertical Velocity
Six Flags Great America – Chicago, IL
Discovery Kingdom – San Francisco, CA
Two more examples of inverted roller coasters that use linear induction motors are these two installations of Vertical Velocity. This coaster has two, 185 foot towers that form a U-shape. Linear induction motors blast the rider up the first tower in a twisting corkscrew, then launch them backwards straight up the second tower.
- Tower height: 185 feet
- Top speed: 70 mph
