Axiomtek introduces iCON-3171 point-to-point industrial managed 10/100base-TX Ethernet extender which can extend Ethernet connectivity over existing copper wire. With the iCON-3171 Ethernet extender, users can save on cabling and wiring costs and speedily extend the Ethernet connectivity. The built-in serial port and high-speed LANs enable fast and efficient setting. Moreover, the IP30-rated iCON-3171 meets NEMA TS1/TS2 standard for traffic control equipment and IEC61000-6-2 EMC generic standard immunity for harsh environment, and supports a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +75°C. This reliable unit is ideal for building automation, security surveillance, digital signage, factory automation, and intelligent transportation system.

To break the standard distance barriers, the iCON-3171 efficiently extends 10/100Mbps Ethernet circuits to 300 meters (984 feet) at up to 50Mbps transmit performance and up to 1,900 meters (6,232 feet) at 1Mbps transmit performance. The RJ-45 Ethernet port on this unit provides auto-MDIX and auto-negotiation. For the Ethernet extender ports, it uses RJ-11 and terminal block ports. Besides, the iCON-3171 comes with one RS-232 serial port to provide users with a versatile industrial communication. Its installation is easy with a single switch setting to select local or remote site. In addition, the iCON-3171 comes equipped with a redundant power input via a 12 VDC to 32 VDC terminal block or 12V DC jack, and is secured with Power Polarity Reverse and an Overload Current Resettable Fuse. The iCON-3171 series also provides several advanced functions such as TCP/IP protocols, SNMP setting, F/W upgrade, and Load Default setting.

“Axiomtek’s iCON-3171 lets customers keep using what they already have to establish a high-speed remote connection between two Ethernet networks. This stand-alone extender provides a fast and economical way to extend your Ethernet connectivity up to 1900 Meters. Additionally, it applies high quality components with advantages of wide operating temperature range and long MTBF to keep your industrial applications running non-stop,” said Philip Wei, Product Manager of Applied Computing & Network Device Business Unit at Axiomtek. For ease of maintenance, the iCON-3171 features front-facing LED indicators for continues status reports on network speed. To fit various application requirements, the device can be DIN-rail, panel, or rack mounted.
