Bearings maker NN, Inc. has announced that it will begin production of a new series of Cylindrical Roller Bearing cages that utilizes a proprietary process technology.
NN developed this technology at one of its R&D innovation centers and has been working closely with major bearing suppliers to validate the new process. The flexible manufacturing technology allows bearing manufacturers to replace expensive machined cages resulting in significant cost savings. It also reduces tooling costs and shortens lead times on samples providing customers a cost effective fast to market solution for their cylindrical bearing applications.
NN has entered into a long-term agreement with a major bearing supplier and will begin production shipments by fall of 2016. The new product will expand into multiple applications and end-markets globally over the next 12 months.

Looking for a ball transfer unit that I can mount to the bottom of my fireplace screen that will keep the edge of screen from dragging on a granite ledge as I open/close the screen. The bottom of the screen where I need to attach the unit is to an edge that is 3/8th” to 1/2″ above the granite. I would like the unit to have a vertical shaft that can bolted through/to the bottom of the horizontal part of the screen which is 37″ long, 1/2″ wide and 1/16th of an inch thick-wrought iron. While the ball transfer unit will never be directly in the fire, it must be able to work in a very warm environment.
If you can think of a better way of keeping this screen edge from rubbing on the granite shelf when I open/close the screen to put wood in the fireplace and to clean out its ashes, please feel free to suggest it.
