2-D Geometry QUADRA-CHEK Readout from HEIDENHAIN

By Design World Staff | May 25, 2010

SCHAUMBURG, IL – Continuing to provide the well known and versatile QUADRA-CHEK metrology digital readout for 2-D geometries (past METRONICS brand – QC 200), parent company HEIDENHAIN Corporation introduces it with a new dark gray faceplate. Now called the QUADRA-CHEK ND 1200, this industry-standard readout maintains all of the useful features used throughout manufacturing for so many years.

HEIDENHAIN-QUADRA-CHEK-ND-1200

The ND 1200 series of readouts continue to support up to four axes, and function as measuring computers for 2-D geometries. They are mainly suited to optical comparators, measuring microscopes and 2-D measuring machines. Their ease of use is well documented and the innovative operator guidance system provides the user with self-explanatory information about the various functions throughout.

The ND 1200 QUADRA-CHEK maintains its trend-setting monochrome flat-panel LCD screen for displayed values, dialogs and inputs, graphics functions and soft keys. The robust, diecast aluminum enclosure meets the demands of metrology and production control.

Predefined features (point, line, circle) are available for measurement with the ND 1200. The patented “Measure Magic” function makes measurement especially easy: it selects the feature which best matches the shape implied by the points probed. In addition, the user can establish relationships (distances, angles) between features.

An optional edge detection feature allows users to automatically capture measurement points via an optical edge detector. This includes a probe searching for light and dark areas in order to recreate the part internally.

Data interfaces are useful when outputting measurement points as well as loading and saving settings, compensation values and programs. The RS-232-CN.24 serial interface enables communication with a PC, and printers or memory media can be connected via a USB port.
