Files for a 3D printable 8 mm gun have been found on 3D Share after the same were removed from MakerBot’s 3D printing plan database, Thingiverse. The gun, designed by activist Cody Wilson, was removed as a violation of the Terms of Service, but 3D Share’s CEO says he does not plan on pulling the files.
“My opinion on what can be shared on platforms like 3DShare is not relevant in this discussion. We will listen to the community and the law makers in a democratic manner to make sure that any decisions are transparent and not the opinion of one person who runs a website,” he said. As of the morning of June 18, 29 people had downloaded the plans.
