Molex has added a new, 60 A rated version to its Woodhead ArcArrest product line of switch-rated connector systems. The 60A product is a UL 2682 power connector that combines a plug, receptacle and switch in one device. The new addition joins the 30A-rated ArcArrest family to offer food and beverage, construction and industrial companies a safe, simple and fast way to de-energize industrial machines and equipment.
“From motor changeovers to replacing components in electrical panels, industrial maintenance requires frequent interaction with electricity,” said Tom Beranek, global product manager, Molex. “This latest addition to the ArcArrest family offers an additional safeguard for machine manufacturers and operators, especially in wet or harsh environments.”
The ArcArrest 60A completely shields users as the plug maintains a connection with the receptacle during operation. A twisting motion must be applied to remove the plug after the circuit has been interrupted.
ArcArrest 60A provides:
- Visual proof that power has been removed when plug and receptacle are separated
- Line-of-sight motor disconnect as required by the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) provisions for fast OSHA lock-out/ tag-out compliance
- Protection from arcing energy as plug connection is maintained during connect/disconnect
In high-risk environments, such as food and beverage, electrical connectors must meet stringent standards for safety while ensuring watertight connection to eliminate or reduce the risk of electrical shocks, short circuits and electrical fires. Molex continues to enhance its Woodhead family of solutions to create a safer workplace in the toughest, wettest and most abrasive environments.
Now available, ArcArrest 60A is rated Type 4X and IP69K. The solution features critical components manufactured in engineered thermoplastic; spring-loading, silver alloy contacts and laser labeling.
