Fast way to make a fastener
Clickbond Inc. had its fastening systems on display because they are said to work well in aerospace applications. In the case of the nutplates shown here, the first step is to drill a hole. The nutplate comes with a rubber-like installation fixture visible in bright colors here. You apply adhesive to the nutplate, then pull the installation fixture through the hole. It applies pressure to the nutplate and holds it in place while the adhesive dries for a few seconds. Then just pull the fixture through and the nutplate is ready for use. Clickbond says the strength of the resulting attachment point is comparable to that of nutplates installed in the conventional way.
