In subsea applications, performing processes at the seafloor simplifies operations by reducing the transfer of materials. Typical subsea processes include subsea water removal and re-injection or disposal, single- or multi-phase boosting of well fluids, sand and solid separation, gas/liquid separation and boosting, as well as gas treatment and compression.
To standardize the interface between subsea sensors and the subsea control system and achieve improvements in subsea reliability, involved companies developed the Subsea Instrumentation Interface Standardization (SIIS).
At a recent interoperability event, SIIS Level 3 Plugfest, companies could demonstrate compliance with the SIIS requirements. LORD Corporation’s Stellar Technology was among the participants and its wellbore sensing technology (pressure/temperature transducers) was validated to successfully interface with several subsea control module (SCM) manufacturers.
