Ace Controls miniature shock absorbers improve production rates

By Stacy Combest | August 20, 2012

Share

The Miniature Shock Absorbers from ACE Controls are self-contained hydraulic components that optimize production rates while extending machine life. The maintenance-free shock absorbers also help reduce construction costs and noise pollution.

Offering a low return force, model ranges MC 9 to MC 75 also feature a relatively short overall length.

Filled with a temperature stable oil, the shock absorber comes with an integrated positive stop, making it ideal for use in compact, fast handling equipment, pick and place mechanisms and rotary actuators. A comprehensive range of metering hardness allows the units to cover applications with 0.3 kg to 36 kg effective weight.

Meanwhile, the MC 30 M-Z model allows direct installation within a pneumatic pressure chamber thanks to the company’s innovative stretch membrane.

The shock absorbers deliver an impact velocity range of 0.5 m/s to 5 m/s (for MC 9M, 0.15 m/s to 1.8 m/s) and an operating temperature range of up to 65°C. They also feature a steel body and black oxide finish as well as hardened stainless steel piston rod.

Customers should always ensure that the effective weight of the application is well-within the range of the selected unit. Additional cooling such as cylinder exhaust air should be considered if the application exceeds its W4 tabulated figures or maximum energy per hour Nm/hr.

The miniature shock absorbers can be mounted in any position, with the optional stop collar type AH recommended when precise end position datum is needed.
