Advantech Introduces Intel® Dual Core 17” Automation Control Panel

By Stacy Combest | February 6, 2013

Advantech’s Industrial Automation Group has launched a 17” touch panel computer, the TPC-1771H, to its family of TPC products. This model provides a choice between PCIe and mini-PCIe expansion slots and an integrated digital I/O module.

The PCIe or the mini-PCIe expansion slot can be used to expand the functionality through a 3rd party or Advantech add-on cards, such as the industrial communication module, Wi-Fi, 3G, Profibus, CANOpen, PROFINET, Ethernet/IP, etc.

With integrated DI/DO function, instead of the need to plug into another DI/DO card, the DI/DO port is equipped by default.  In the event of a power failure, there is a battery backup 1MB SRAM which ensures that data isn’t deleted and settings, such as the PIT setting or Log file, are available once power has been restored.

TPC1771H

The TPC-1771H, along with the other already released sizes (6”, 10”, 12” and 15”) feature a fanless low power consuming Intel Atom™ Dual Core 1.8GHz processor, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM, resistive touch screen, 2 x RS-232 with isolation, 1 x RS-422/485 (RS-485 with auto flow control & Isolation), 2 x USB 2.0 Host Ports, and 2 x GbE LAN. For data storage, the devices also include; 1 x Compact Flash Slot and 1 x 2.5” SATA HDD.  With IP65 approved front panels, they can be easily cleaned without risk of damage making them ideal for a range of machine automation and factory automation applications, plus with a temperature range of 0-50°C, they are suitable for use in many different outdoor applications.
