Aerospace Expands Its Seals and Segments Capabilities into Singapore Business Editors

BRISTOL, Conn.– (BUSINESS WIRE) — Jun. 17, 2009– Barnes Aerospace, a business of Barnes Group Inc. (NYSE: B) and global provider of manufacturing solutions and comprehensive component overhaul and repair services, has increased its global footprint in seals and segments, adding a new Seals and Segments Center of Excellence to its original equipment manufacturing (OEM) factory in Singapore.

The new Seals and Segments Center of Excellence provides customers worldwide with a cost-effective outsourcing alternative for seals and segments that are used in gas turbine engines. A 37,000 square-foot addition to the Company’s Singapore facility houses five new machines and expands the Company’s expertise and capabilities in providing complex seals and segments to customers. This facility is one of Barnes Aerospace’s two facilities in Singapore. The second is dedicated to maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations.

As part of the Seals and Segments Center of Excellence, Barnes Aerospace has installed three 5axis hedge grinders, which give the Company the capability to perform 5axis radial grooving and honey comb grinding. Two 5axis EDM fast hole drilling machines and nickel plating capabilities augment Barnes Aerospace’s braze and vacuum furnace applications.
