AS-Interface Magnetic Door Safety Switches

Pepperl+Fuchs introduces new AS-Interface magnetic door safety switches. These CAT4 magnetic safety switches feature a coded magnet system with a fixed cable and an industry standard M12 connector, enabling AS-Interface users to safeguard small doors and coverings with a compact solution that quickly and easily mounts in any position.

“With these new safety switches, designing and setting up an AS-Interface Safety at Work solution just got more convenient and a lot faster,” explains Helge Hornis, Ph.D., manager for Intelligent Systems at Pepperl+Fuchs. “In fact, using one of Pepperl+Fuchs’ many passive flat-to-round cable splitters, connecting these CAT4 switches to the network takes 20 to 30 seconds at the most.”

With a 36 x 13 x 26.2 mm footprint, model VAA-2E-IER2-S-1M-V1 is the most compact of the two available switches. With a moderately longer 87.5 x 13 x 25 mm housing, model VAA-2E1A-IER1-S-1M-V1 features LED status indicators that provide users with easy-to-read visual diagnostics.

Fully encapsulated electronics provide IP67/IP69K protection for long life (108 switching cycles) and reliable operation in ambient temperatures ranging from -20 … 60°C (-4°F … 140°F). As with all AS-Interface solutions, power and communication is supplied directly through the AS-Interface network.
