ASCO Numatics G3 valve island makes communication easy

By Stacy Combest | August 21, 2012

Share

The G3 valve island is an electronic platform that can easily be assembled, installed, commissioned and maintained, aside from providing effective support to various communication protocols such as DeviceNet, DeviceNet with EtherNet/IP, Quick Connect, CANopen, PROFIBUS-DP, MODBUS/TCP, Powerlink and DeviceLogix.

Its graphic display allows easy commissioning, diagnostics and visual status while the robust connections are easy-to-use, making the platform highly distributable.

To enhance the flexibility and modularity of the entire system solution, the G3 electronics interface with the Numatics generation 2000 Series, ISO15407-2 and ISO 5599/2 Series valve lines.

A completely modular system, the G3 Series product line is protected to IP65/NEMA 4. The modules use an innovative clip design to plug together, enabling easy module replacement/removal without dismantling the entire manifold. The user-friendly system can also be used in either distributed or centralized applications.

The valve island’s optimized intelligence is attributed to its enhanced plug-and-play capabilities and new diagnostic functions while its innovative graphic display feature supports plain-language messaging for set-up and diagnostics. The messages provide the user with direct information, making it easier to detect shorted sensor/cable, shorted and open load, missing module as well as low and missing power. It also provides a log of network/distribution errors while allowing for self-test activation.

The G3 valve island can support up to 256/544 inputs/outputs with just a single communication node of up to 32 valve solenoids for every manifold and a maximum of 16 manifolds for every communication node. The G3 interfaces to valves with flows ranging from 275 to 3820 l/min AMR.
