AVX (Greenville, SC) has introduced the first 1206 size, 100 V MLCC capable of exhibiting capacitance of 4.7 µF and withstanding operating temperatures of up to 125°C. Designed for use in industrial power supply circuits, the new 1206, 100 V MLCCs exhibit high voltage resistance, high capacitance, low ESR, ripple resistance, and an extended lifetime. Employing AVX’s newly developed X7S dielectric material, which reduces the average diameter of dielectric particles by approximately 20% and enhances the uniformity of its composition. The new MLCC also features a 30% smaller mounting surface than conventional 1210 size products, providing improved design flexibility over comparable products, such as aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Features include:
- High voltage resistance, high capacitance, low ESR, and a long useful lifespan in a miniature 1206 (3.2mm x 1.6mm x 1.6mm) package.
- Ripple-resistance in frequency bands extending to more than several dozen KHz.
- Limits heat generation and voltage fluctuations in power supply circuits, contributing to both the reduced size and enhanced reliability of industrial equipment.
