Bird Precision’s easy-to-install barbed orifice inserts

By Pneumatics Editor | September 14, 2012

Bird Precision has created the easiest of all orifice inserts to install — the barbed orifice inserts.

Barbed orifice inserts are the easy to install and are widely used in plastics as well as other flexible materials. Their receiving components are less expensive and easier to manufacture because a precision hole is not needed.

The barbed orifice inserts are available in stainless steel and brass, with a choice of various sizes.

Stainless steel barbed orifice inserts are excellent choice for environments that require premium material, such as those where there is a constant risk of corrosion, wear and tear.

With the chemical and durable properties of ruby and a stainless steel design, these inserts are guaranteed to have a long and maintenance-free life. Hence, these types of inserts are used for more demanding applications such as analytical, laboratory and medical instrumentation.

Available models are RB 82563, RB 82702 and RB 82001. Diameters range from 0.095-inch to 0.223-inch, while available lengths are between 0.125-inch and 0.19-inch.

Meanwhile, brass barbed orifice inserts are more affordable than their stainless steel counterparts. Despite its more economical prices, these inserts offer exceptional durability and the dimensional repeatability of the ruby orifice. Thus, they are utilized in many pneumatic and medical gas applications.

Available models are RB 82062, RB 82563, RB 82802, RB 82378, RB 82884, RB 82650 and RB 82001. Diameters range from 0.084-inch to 0.223-inch, while available lengths are between 0.120-inch and 0.19-inch.
