Bishop-Wisecarver Group (BWG), a WBENC-certified, woman-owned family of companies that offer guidance solutions, contract specialty manufacturing and mechatronic-based engineering services, today announced that company president, Pamela Kan, has received one of the prestigious 2016 Enterprising Women of the Year Awards.
Award winners must demonstrate that they have fast-growth businesses, mentor or actively support other women and girls involved in entrepreneurship and stand out as leaders in their communities. Many of the honorees also serve as leaders of the key organizations that support the growth of women’s entrepreneurship.
“The recipients of the 2016 Enterprising Women of the Year Award represent an amazing group of women entrepreneurs from across the United States and as far away as China, Egypt, South Africa, Uganda, the United Kingdom and Portugal,” said Monica Smiley, Publisher/CEO of Enterprising Women. “We could not be more proud to recognize their accomplishments as CEOs of fast-growth companies, community leaders, and role models and mentors to other women and girls.”
Honorees were recognized at the 14th Annual Enterprising Women of the Year Awards Celebration & Conference, Sunday, February 28 to Tuesday, March 1 at The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove in Miami, Florida.
Kan became BWG president in 2000 and gained majority ownership in 2009. Under her leadership, the company has become a WBENC-certified woman owned business and been certified in the Bay Area Green Business Program. Kan also formed two new subsidiary companies, Black Diamond Manufacturing and WRW Engineering, and recently led the company’s first acquisition of Specialty Motions, Inc.’s (SMI) linear actuator product line.
