Bison Gear & Engineering Corporation’s heartbeat—caring employees—and fellow participants in the BisonCares charity activities reflect a strong spirit of shared social responsibility. Their ongoing efforts benefit a broad range of programs serving children and adults, animal welfare and other worthy causes.
“BisonCares was founded in 2005 by Bison Gear & Engineering Corporation after our employees saw the devastating impact caused by Hurricane Katrina,” said Sylvia Wetzel, BisonCares president. “Bison employees felt the need to improve the quality of life in our local and global communities.” Since then, Bison employees and others—through BisonCares—have contributed to the Northern Illinois Food Bank, the Ronald McDonald House in Streeterville, IL Toys for Tots, the Lazarus House, Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin, IL Hope Haven International, Heart Gift, Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation and other organizations. Community outreach programs reflect suggestions from Bison employees. Bison provides matching donations, up to $250 annually, for 501(c)3 charities selected by employees.
Wetzel noted that the BisonCares mission inspires increasing participation in programs assisting charities and individuals. Its mission: To facilitate as an organization a set of responsive, compassionate initiatives for the wellbeing of our local and global communities in order to improve the quality of life.
Powered by Bison Gear and its employees, BisonCares continues to gain momentum. Dedication to “giving back” starts with Bison’s commitment to its employees, customers, business partners and the community. The company recognizes each employee’s contribution to supporting its business objectives and the skills of its engaged workforce that create loyal customers, growth and profitability. Bison nurtures this involvement through mutual respect, taking the time to listen to each other, keeping promises, teamwork and celebrating accomplishments.
