A bid of $4.7 billion finally surpassed the $4.6 billion reserve price in Round 17 of the FCC’s 700 MHz spectrum auction this morning.
Bidding for the nationwide C Block will continue with Round 18 beginning at 11:30 a.m. EST today at a minimum of $5.3 billion. Rounds 19, 20, and 21 begin at 1:30 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4:30 p.m., respectively.
There are still no new bids for the D Block, which is also nationwide but must be shared with emergency services. It remains at $472 million, and some experts believe the emergency use requirement may change if the bids don’t arrive soon.
Bidding for the A Block of regional and economic area licenses also met its reserve price of 1.8 billion.
