Blue Ridge/SpaceClaim Partnership

CFD vendor Blue Ridge Numerics and CAD company SpaceClaim have announced a partnership to serve engineers who perform CFD analysis as part of their CAD operations. The agreement refers to these “multi-tasking engineers” who need “ Upfront CFD.”

The announcement indicates that Blue Ridge CFdesign and SpaceClaim make it possible for engineers without CFD expertise to successfully study flow and thermal product performance before resorting to costly and time consuming physical prototypes. Because SpaceClaim and CFdesign are fully associative, each design change in SpaceClaim is immediately displayed in CFdesign, allowing you to conduct multiple design studies using the setup information from the first analysis. You can create new concept models or prepare existing models for analysis.

SpaceClaim’s full associative integration with CFdesign provides these benefits:

• Freedom from design constraints (no importing geometry)

• More creative work environment (use initial analysis setup on multiple design iterations)

• Faster project completion (automatically generates the optimal mesh and flow volume meaning you get access to first-pass simulation results within minutes.

CFdesign from Blue Ridge Numerics was built from the ground-up for the mechanical design engineer who creates new product concepts in a CAD centric product development process. CFdesign is all about doing virtual design studies, so if you have responsibilities for considering a broad spectrum of design possibilities to achieve the optimal design and you’re looking to add flow and thermal simulation to the mix without being a dedicated analyst, then CFD is a great tool for you and your company.

“We are confident our joint solution with SpaceClaim will help eliminate the barriers associated with the creation and modification of 3D models, while equipping the multi-discipline engineer with a CFD solution for better decision-making and collaboration upfront in the design process,” says Ed Williams, President, Blue Ridge Numerics, Inc.
