Boeing has been given a $54.9 million modification to an Air Force contract for an X-Band anti-jam improvement to the military branch’s satellite communications, the U.S. Department of Defense announced in its Tuesday publication of contracts.

The improvement made will increase the Wideband Global SATCOM satellites’ ability to withstand unintentional and hostile electronic threats. More than $13 million in fiscal 2015 and 2016 research, development, test, and evaluation funds will be assigned with the award. The labor will be conducted in El Segundo, Calif., and should be finished by Aug. 16, 2019.

Terma North America has been awarded a $20 million Air Force contract to supply the Taiwanese Air Force with countermeasures signal processors, advanced threat displays, electronic equipment control panels, and EMI filters. The company will conduct the work in Warner Robins, Ga., and should finish the labor by March 31, 2019. The firm-fixed-price supply contract was a sole-source acquisition.

Spectrum Photonics has been given a $16.8 million Air Force contract to create a portable system used to detect and identify small amounts of chemical residues on surfaces using active spectroscopy at an approximate range of 98 feet. Including Spectrum Photonics, 17 companies submitted bids for the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract. More than $3 million in fiscal 2015 research, development, test, and evaluation funds will be assigned with the award. The labor will be conducted in Honolulu, and should be finished by Oct. 9, 2020.

Scitor Corporation has been awarded a $25.7 million Army contract to develop a signature-based counter improvised explosive device for the Integrated Signatures Program. Nearly $2.5 million in fiscal 2015 research, development, testing, and evaluation funds were assigned with the award. Scitor was the only company to submit a bid for the cost-plus-fixed-fee, incrementally funded contract. The labor will be conducted in Reston, Va., and should be finished on Feb. 11, 2019.

Maryland-based detector manufacturer Smiths Detection has been given a $17.1 million modification to an Army contract for 2,092 M4A1 joint chemical agent doctors, 2,088 communication adapter kits, and 10 platform interface kits. More than $17 million in fiscal 2016 funding was assigned with the award. The labor will be conducted in Edgewood, Md., and should be finished on Sept. 30, 2016.

Lockheed Martin Aeronautics was awarded a $9.8 million Air Force contract option Feb. 8 to support the F-22 Radar Cross Section Marietta Turntable and Aircraft Structural Integrity program. The labor will be conducted in Fort Worth, Texas, and should be finished by Dec. 31, 2016.
