Bright House Networks is the official telecommunications provider for this year’s Republican National Convention that will be held at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The Committee on Arrangements picked Bright House Networks, which competes against Verizon in the Tampa area, for the GOP convention that will be held Aug. 27-30.
Bright House Networks will hook up convention attendees, vendors and media with its video, high-speed data and wireline voice services. On the data side, services will include dedicated access Internet that is scalable from 10 Mbps to 1 Gbps and metro Ethernet.
“Bright House Networks is an ideal partner for us as we plan the 2012 Republican National Convention. We are pleased to welcome them as our telecommunications provider,” said convention CEO William Harris. “The company is committed to the Tampa Bay area, and it has one of the most advanced fiber-optic networks available in the industry. Its services will be instrumental in helping delegates and members of the media communicate seamlessly during the convention.”
Ahead of the increased network demand in Tampa, Bright House Networks plans to expand its fiber infrastructure around the Tampa Bay Times Forum and Tampa Convention Center. Bright House, which is the nation’s sixth-largest cable operator, said it already operates one of the largest network infrastructures in the Tampa Bay area.
