British Telecom (BT) has filed allegations of patent infringement against Google with a district court in Delaware.
According to the complaint, BT alleges that Google infringes 6 of the carrier’s patents. BT currently boasts a patent portfolio of over 10,000 patents.
Google could not be reached for comment prior to press time.
Among other things, BT charges Google’s storage, retrieval and delivery of location-based information across a number of its products, including Android and Google Docs, is based solely on BT’s Intellectual Property (IP).
BT is asking for a jury trial and is seeking both and injunction and damages.
Google, which has been plagued by patent infringement allegations as of late, is awaiting the approval of a $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility. At the time of the acquisition, Google acknowledged that Motorola Mobility’s broad patent portfolio would be of service in defending itself, and the Android operating system, against litigation.
