Call for judges: 2019 LEAP Awards

LEAP awards logoDesign World, EE World and Fluid Power World are looking for judges for the 2019 LEAP Awards. This engineering awards program, now in its second year, celebrates the most innovative and forward-thinking products serving the design engineering space. Our editorial team will assemble an independent panel of engineering professionals to choose the winners, and we’re hoping you’ll consider being a judge.

The 14 categories for 2019 are as follows:

Design World
Additive manufacturing
Advanced materials
Fastener technology
Industrial automation
Mechanical
Motion control
Software
Switches & sensors

Fluid Power World
Hydraulics
Pneumatics

EE World
Connectivity
Embedded computing
Power electronics
Test & measurement

Ideal judging candidates will be based in the United States, are currently employed in an engineering capacity at an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and have a minimum of 7 years of experience. Judges are not required to purchase/specify products associated with the categories they are judging. They cannot be employed by companies submitting applications to the LEAP Awards. 

Judges will each receive a $500 honorarium or WTWH will cover airfare and two nights hotel at the awards ceremony, which will be held in conjunction with DeviceTalks West and the Healthcare Robotics Engineering Forum in Santa Clara, Calif. on December 10-11. Judges also will also receive full conference access to both engineering events.

Paul J. Heney, the VP, Editorial Director for Design World magazine, has a BS in Engineering Science & Mechanics and minors in Technical Communications and Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech. He has written about fluid power, aerospace, robotics, medical, green engineering, and general manufacturing topics for nearly 25 years. He has won numerous regional and national awards for his writing from the American Society of Business Publication Editors.
