Comcast has formed a new legal regulatory group that will be headed by Lynn Charytan, who is the company’s vice president of legal regulatory affairs.
Comcast said the new legal regulatory group will provide corporate-wide legal advice across both the Comcast Cable and NBCUniversal entities, as well as ensure compliance issues related to the Comcast/NBCUniversal deal are followed.
The group also oversees all legal regulatory advocacies, including filings in federal and state regulatory proceedings and related litigation and appeals, for both Comcast Cable and NBCUniversal.
Lastly, the new group will also work closely with the mergers and acquisitions and securities law attorneys in the corporate law department to help with the legal regulatory aspects of transactions and SEC filings, and it will also be responsible for the retention and oversight of outside counsel for regulatory matters at the FCC; the FTC; and other federal, state and local agencies.
Charytan joined Comcast in 2010 after a 17-year stint with WilmerHale. At WilmerHale, she was a partner and chair of the communications, privacy and Internet law practice group. She advised clients on telecommunications, privacy and Internet law matters in all sectors of the communications industry – from equipment manufacturers to wireless companies to video providers.
“We are pleased that Lynn has agreed to take on this expanded role to oversee legal regulatory matters for the combined company,” said David Cohen, executive vice president of Comcast. “We are fortunate to have her leading this new team.”
