Clear acrylic manifold subplates make pneumatic circuit assembly faster

By Pneumatics Editor | June 6, 2012

Clippard’s (www.clippard.com) clear acrylic manifold subplates radically altered the conventional methods of pneumatic circuit assembly, specifically in the production of multiple units.

The acrylic design made the circuits neat, light and easy to mount for permanent installation. With the amount of piping reduced, assembly is now faster and simple while ensuring highly accurate connections.

In addition, the subplate eliminates the need for clamps, gaskets or piping since all inter connections between the controls and the valves are machined into it. The acrylic manifold subplate does not only eliminate various small parts, tubing and fittings, but piping errors as well.

Although a series of standard subplates is available for popular uses, the company also offers custom designed subplates, particularly for circuits producing similar units.

Accepting Clippard modular components, each custom subplate is individually manufactured and, once established, the interconnections of the circuit will be identical every time.

To assure correct assembly, component identification is silk screened on the surface of the subplate with every input, output and modular valve identified. The subplate also allows users to visually inspect completed circuits to confirm component replacement.

Aside from the modular control valves, the subplates can also be mounted with Clippard ET and EV series of electronic interface valves.

Clippard’s standard series of acrylic subplates integrates the patented Clippard Octoport System to offer standard porting. The range includes simple single module circuits and complex multi-step sequencing circuits that employ pneumatic control in order to automate machine or process cycles, such as two-hand non tie down control.
