Saltwater environments commonly lead to corrosion of printed circuit boards. That’s why Phoenix Contact has introduced two new boards with conformal coating that gives added protection from salt water, as well as moisture, dust, and other corrosives commonly found in industrial environments. The PCB based PSI-MOS Profibus Fiber-Optic converters were designed primarily for use in the shipbuilding and marine industries. In addition, all of the company’s copper to fiber-optic media converters are now approved for use in UL Class 1, Division 2, hazardous locations. Volatile flammable materials are normally found and contained in these locations, but they can become dangerous through abnormal conditions. These locations are commonly found in the petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical, and water/wastewater industries.
The converter’s printed circuit board with corrosion-resistant coating is ideal for saltwater environments.
