COMAU Robotics, the Fiat subsidiary based in Turin, will exclusively use B&R technology in the area of automation.

Maurizio Filoni (r.), Chief Operating Officer, COMAU Robotics, and Luca Galluzzi (l.), Managing Director B&R Italy, commit to a long-term partnership.

For its articulated arm robots, COMAU will be using series C5G of the modular servo drive system ACOPOSmulti. The latest industrial PC generation, the APC810 with Core 2 Duo technology, and the X20 system will be used to control the system. A POWERLINK interface will allow simple integration of the hardware components into COMAU’s proven CNC logic.

The key factors in the decision – in addition to B&R’s innovative state-of-the-art products – were the benefits of the real-time Ethernet protocol POWERLINK and the integrated safety technology.
