Comcast has hired Judy James as its new director of government affairs for the North Bay area of its California footprint.
She will be responsible for Comcast’s local government affairs and policy issues in the Napa, Sonoma, North Solano, Marin, and Mendocino areas. James will be based in Rohnert Park and will report directly to Sue Vaccaro, senior director of government affairs for Comcast California.
“We are excited to welcome Judy James to Comcast’s talented Government Affairs team in California,” said Vaccaro. “Judy has extensive experience working with elected officials and government staff members on a wide range of issues. As the former top administrator for Sonoma County’s largest membership organization and having developed advocacy and marketing programs for a variety of companies, she has a successful track record as a business leader.”
James, a lifelong Sonoma County resident, previously worked at Republic Services Incorporated, a non-hazardous solid waste and recycling company, where she served as municipal relationship manager responsible for developing relationships with elected officials and their staff members within Sonoma and San Mateo Counties. She developed community outreach campaigns in this position and in her previous role as the director of community relations for a regional dairy processer, Clover Stornetta Farms.
James was the executive director of the Sonoma County Farm Bureau where she won numerous national awards for developing new and innovative advocacy and educational programs for the benefit of her industry.
