The 340XRi, 680XRi, and 1220XRi dc drives are for four quadrant applications. They return energy into the mains supply under braking without complex intermediate storage, resistive dumping, or additional power bridges. This lowers the demand from the incoming ac supply.
The drives conserve power across a range of speeds. At lower speeds, they have better power/torque conversion, from 10:1 to over 100:1, which eliminates oversizing the motor. They develop full rated torque at or near zero speed in the same way throughout the entire speed range. The torque can be reversed slowly or quickly, as required.
The dc motor has an open-frame, through-vent for quick cooling, and reduced frame size for a given kW rating. They require little panel mount on a standard DIN rail, and are used with motors to 1.8 kW, 2 hp. The drives independently set the required current levels in each winding to meet a certain load requirement without complex algorithms.
