MRC‚® brand Marathon‚® composite mounted bearing units incorporate lightweight and durable thermoplastic housings with the capability to resist citric acids, cooking fats, and most washdown chemicals and sanitizers used in food and beverage processing applications. Their housings (up to 61% lighter than cast iron) additionally integrate embedded steel coils for excellent fracture strength.
Other features include a cavity-free base to mount units flush with surfaces and eliminate gaps that could allow contaminants to collect; corrosion-resistant insert bearings (either stainless steel or standard bearing steel protected with MRC‚’s ZMaRC‚® coating); low-friction rubber seals; and USDA approved (H1) sealed-for-life lubricants to enable virtually maintenance-free operation and promote extended service life.
Units are available in a wide range of sizes and various housing styles, including pillow block, flanges, tapped base, take-up, and hanger. They also can be specified with an eccentric ‚“locking collar‚†to provide an especially strong and secure fit resistant to slippage.
